Our team have developed a suite of features and applications which protect our customers from malicious online attacks when using any of their devices. We are an innovative company that aims to stay ahead of the curve in all aspects of online security and have a number of exciting projects on the horizon.

At Protected, no two days are the same and we are on the lookout for someone with great team-working and communication skills, with the ability to adapt their skillset to suit different projects.

After starting as an offshoot of the Web Development team around 2 years ago, our first browser extension project has been a huge success, allowing us to improve our product offering and further expand our opportunities for onboarding new customers. As a result, we are now creating a dedicated team whose focus will be to work with our design and product departments on new browser extension projects as well as maintaining existing ones.

We develop our browser extensions using React, Redux, TypeScript, gulp, webpack. We use custom built frameworks, of which full training is provided.

The senior members of the team have worked for Protected.net since its inception in 2016. They take pride in their work and are eager to share their extensive knowledge, as well as collaborate on new ideas from new members joining the team. We have learned a lot in the past 5 years since launching and will continue to push our ideas forward to develop new frameworks and tools to really drive our products forward.

responsibilities

  • Write high quality code in accordance with development standards, processes and workflows

  • Work with members of the Development, Design and Product teams to facilitate new and existing browser extension projects

  • Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future use

  • Monitoring and improving the extensions performance

  • Provide updates to the team lead on progress and any blockers encountered

  • Stay up to date with the latest web technologies

essential skills

  • 5+ years of experience in development focused role

  • You have a strong grasp of HTML/CSS & JS

  • You are proficient in JavaScript and take pride in writing clean, well-structured code using appropriate design patterns

  • You have experience using TypeScript

  • You are familiar with CSS preprocessors e.g. SCSS/LESS

  • You have experience using JavaScript preprocessors e.g. webpack (preferred), Rollup, Babel

  • You have worked with modern JavaScript frameworks e.g. React (preferred), Angular, VueJS

  • You have experience working with browser extensions (beneficial but not required)

  • Knowledge of performance testing frameworks including Mocha and Jest (beneficial but not required)

  • Experience with browser-based debugging and performance testing software

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
